Rona Yellow Robe Concert
Concert with Rona Yellow Robe
Suggested Donation: $20 Adults / $12 Students (12+) (at the door)
Unity of South Sound is honored to welcome Rona Yellow Robe, internationally known singer-songwriter and Native flutist, for a special concert in celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day.
This event will begin with the reading of our Land Acknowledgement Statement, followed by a Call to the Four Directions and a smudging ceremony led by Rona. Through music, ritual, and storytelling, she will invite us into a sacred space of connection and healing.
In the spirit of justice and healing, 10% of proceeds will be donated to an agency supporting missing and murdered Indigenous women and youth.
Rona’s artistry and message speak powerfully to the healing of historic wounds and to the resilience of Native peoples. We invite you to join us for this meaningful event of music, ceremony, and community.

Join us for a dynamic, heart-opening workshop led by Jennifer Richardson, designed to deepen the lessons from our Daring Greatly FIA book study. Through the practice of personal collage, you’ll courageously explore and claim the truth of who you are called to be.
This is more than an art project—it’s a spiritual and creative practice of daring authenticity, guided in a supportive community setting.

Be Part of the Fun!
Bring your family and friends for a spooktacular evening of fun at our Annual Halloween Trunk-or-Treat, happening on October 31st from 6-8pm in the Spire parking lot. This event is a safe and festive way for children and families to enjoy Halloween.
Walk through rows of creatively decorated cars, each one offering treats and surprises! Kids (and adults!) are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy the evening filled with candy, laughter, and community spirit.
Don't miss out on this fun-filled Halloween experience! It's open to all, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

Annual Pancake Brunch | Youth Ministry Fundraiser
Join us for a delicious brunch in support of our Youth & Family Ministry (YFM)! Pancakes, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, juice, and coffee will be served in the downstairs banquet room starting at 11:30 AM.
This event is open to the public and operates as a fundraiser for our youth. Donations will be accepted at the door—no tickets required!
While you enjoy your meal, be sure to visit our information table, where you can learn more about our YFM programs, ministries, and even take a tour of our facility, led by members of our Board.

Faith In-Action Prayer Novena
Join us for a transformative 9-hour prayer novena, where we will set our intentions and establish a prayerful foundation for the Faith-In-Action Fall Program. The evening will open with a ritual dissolving paper release, followed by hourly prayers or readings. Special activities include Sufi dancing, walking the Labyrinth, and a drumming session. The novena will conclude with a 5 a.m. Candlelighting ritual
Between activities, the night will be one of quiet reflection and contemplation. A designated 'rest chamber' will be available for those wishing to rest between prayer sessions.
For security, doors will be locked at 9 p.m., with escorts available to cars for those leaving. Late arrivals may text the posted number for entry.

Acupuncture In the Round — Monthly Healing Clinic
We are excited to introduce Acupuncture In the Round, a new monthly healing experience offered at Unity of South Sound! Join us on the last Sunday of each month, immediately following Sunday service, from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM upstairs in the Dance Hall Room.
This one-hour community-style acupuncture clinic is led by Kirsty Docken, AEMP, LAc, MSOM, MASLP, owner of Gig Harbor Acupuncture & Holistic Health. Voted “Best Acupuncture in 2024” by the Tacoma News Tribune, Kirsty brings decades of experience and a deeply grounded, holistic approach to healing.
Rather than traveling to her clinic and paying $90 per session, you can receive this powerful treatment right here at Unity for just $25 per person!

We’re partnering with the Kids Health & Safety Fair (hosted by the Tacoma Police Department) to collect stuffed backpacks for local students in need. A child can learn nothing from an empty backpack—let’s fill them with love, supplies, and hope.

Summer Series: Spirit, Stroll & Connection
Second Mondays | June–August | 6:00 PM
Come celebrate the beauty of our Tacoma community this summer! Led by Rev. Meghan, we’ll gather once a month for a relaxed evening of casual dining, easy walking, spiritual conversation, and joyful connection.
Each gathering will begin at a simple, easygoing dining location at 6:00 PM, followed by a walk through one of Tacoma’s scenic areas. Walks will be along well-traveled paths with up to 2 miles of easy terrain.

🌟 Dates: 2nd Mondays – June 9, July 14, August 11
🌟 Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, water bottle, sunscreen, and your open spirit!
🌟 Dining: Each participant covers their own meal cost.
🌟 Meeting Locations:
June 9 – Meet at Ruston Way Market Public Parking; dine at the Fish Shack kiosk by WildFin American Grill, then stroll the waterfront.
July 14 – Meet at Chinese Reconciliation Park; dine at Fish Market, then enjoy a peaceful walk through the gardens.
August 11 – Meet at Owen Beach Park Kiosk; option to walk to the Vashon Island Ferry ($6.20 round trip / $3.10 for seniors).

Backpacks with Purpose
Let’s Help Kids Start Strong!
We’re partnering with the Kids Health & Safety Fair (hosted by the Tacoma Police Department) to collect stuffed backpacks for local students in need. A child can learn nothing from an empty backpack—let’s fill them with love, supplies, and hope.
🗓️ Deadline: Sunday, August 17
📍 Drop-off at Unity of South Sound on Sundays
Here's How to Help:
STEP 1: Choose a grade level (K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Middle or High School)
STEP 2: Pick up a backpack & fill it with the supply list for that grade
STEP 3: Bring your filled backpack to USS any Sunday before August 17
We’re also collecting these high-need items:
• New underwear & socks
• Sports bras (LG/XLT)
• T-shirts
• Deodorant
