Joining the Board of Trustees at Unity of South Sound is an honor and a unique opportunity to shape our future alongside the minister and fellow Board members. This role is deeply committed to serving our community, fostering positive change and growth within our Spiritual Center.

Board Composition:

We annually evaluate the Board's composition and strengths to identify essential skills and expertise needed for the future growth of our Unity ministry. Our goal is to attract individuals who possess the consciousness, skills, and expertise necessary to effectively contribute to our spiritual community. Board members are required by by-laws to be active members of the ministry and are legally and ethically responsible for the organization’s standards of conduct.

Essential Requirements:

• Membership: Must be a member of Unity of South Sound.

• Teachings: Must embody Unity's spiritual principles.

• Commitment: Demonstrated dedication to USS’s goals and vision, actively contributing time, talent and resources through the practice of consistent intentional giving to our Spiritual Center.

• Active Participation: Regular attendance and involvement in Sunday services, classes, and events.

• Professional Skills (Preferred): Business experience, success in a chosen field, teamwork, strategic planning, budgeting, and decision-making abilities.

Board Expectations:

• Term: Serve a three-year term.

• Meetings: Attend monthly Board meetings every second Thursday at 6:30 PM, as well as any other Leadership training meetings planned throughout the year.

• Preparation: Review pertinent documents and complete tasks before monthly meetings.

• Communication: Respond to Board matters effectively via email and other means as necessary.

• Teamwork: Open to diverse viewpoints and respectful engagement with others.

• Decision-Making: Decisions are made by consensus, rooted in spiritual principles for the Church's Highest Good.

• Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive matters.

• Strategic Planning, Policy Making, and Financial Accountability: Active participation in the Board’s primary responsibilities of strategic planning, policy development, and financial accountability.

• Adherence to Bylaws and Policies: Comply with the ministry's bylaws and policies.

Steps for the Application Process:

• Review and Submit Application: Thoughtfully review the information provided on this page and submit your application by the deadline.

• Application Review: The Nominating Team will review all submitted applications and follow up accordingly.

• Consideration of All Applicants: All applicants will be considered.

• Candidate Selection: The Nominating Team presents a list of qualified candidates to the Board of Trustees for consideration. The Board of Trustees votes to accept approved candidates for presentation to the Membership at the Annual Meeting, documented in the Board Meeting minutes.

• Membership Vote: The final approved candidates are presented to the Center's membership for an official vote of acceptance at the Annual Meeting, based on our Bylaws voting process.
